Finek ("the app," "we," "us") is a mobile app that lets you ping a friend and have them send back their live location and a photo. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Account information. When you create an account, you choose a username and password. Your username is visible to other users so friends can find and add you. Your password is stored securely by Firebase Authentication (Google) — we never see or store it in plain text.
Recovery email (optional). You may add a recovery email address when creating your account, but this is entirely optional and not required to use the app. It is used only if you request a password reset, and only that reset flow can access it — it is never shown to other users and never used for any other purpose.
Location data. When you choose to answer a friend's "FINEK" request, the app collects your device's precise location and sends it to that specific friend. Location is only ever collected when you actively tap to send it — the app does not track or collect your location in the background or at any other time.
Camera and photos. The app requests camera access so you can take a photo when answering a FINEK request, and photo library access if you choose to set a profile picture. Photos are stored as part of your account/ping data as described below.
Friends and social data. The app stores your friends list, pending friend requests, and any users you've chosen to block, so these features can work.
Push notification token. To notify you of friend requests and FINEK pings, the app stores a device push token (provided by Expo's push notification service) linked to your account.
Advertising data. The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier and other technical data to serve and measure ads. See Google's ad policy and AdMob's data disclosure for details on what Google collects and how it's used.
A photo and location sent in response to a FINEK request are visible to the requesting friend only, and are automatically and permanently deleted as soon as that friend views them (or closes the screen). They are not kept, archived, or used for any other purpose.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
You can remove friends or block users at any time from within the app. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us using the email below — we will process deletion requests within a reasonable time.
Finek is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard services (Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules) to restrict access to your data to you and, where the app's features require it, your friends. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
